- From 1996 – 2002, Mr. Gesuri was managing editor of Kontan, the tabloid was established by several former Tempo Magazine journalists in 1996, with a vision to build the most reliable, independent economic and business journal in Indonesia.

- Mr. Gesuri came to Kontan in 1996 with an already distinguished career in journalism. From 1994-1996, he was a desk editor of Forum Keadilan Magazine. He organized politics and law cover story sections. During this same period, he also assisted in writing and editing for Media Indonesia Sunday, a special edition of Media Indonesia Daily, which was put together by former Tempo journalists.

- Prior to joining Forum, Mr. Gesuri was a reporter for Tempo Magazine (1988-1994). His last position at Tempo was assistant editor of politics desk. He stopped working at Tempo because Soeharto Government banned and closed down the magazine on Juni 21, 1994, for its bold coverage.

- In the second half of 1994, he joined a team in writing the biography of General Abdul Haris Nasution, former Chief of Staff for Indonesian Army. The book was published by Alumni of Tempo Foundation in 1996.

- Mr. Gesuri received his graduate degree in communication science from The Faculty of Social dan Political Sciences, University of Gadjah Mada, Yogyakarta, in December 1997. In the Fall 2002, Mr. Gesuri joined the Jefferson Fellowship – East West Center, Honolulu, Hawaii.
